Delhi Public School, Surat hosted the Gujarat State Convention of the SPIC MACAY

Surat : On April 13th and 14th April 2019, Delhi Public School Surat had the privilege of hosting the Gujarat State Convention of the SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth). It was a spectacular event which commenced with the Inaugural Ceremony followed by an inspiring opening speech by the Principal of Delhi Public School Surat, Mr. P. Vamshi Krishna.

After being felicitated, the founder of SPIC MACAY, Padma Shri Dr. Kiran Seth enlightened the audience about its historical background and its venturing out into the realms of educating the young minds through different forms of Art. Screening of a motion picture ‘The Making of a Mahatma’ was one of the highlights of the event, together with a Volunteers Meeting and an Open Session with the Potential Volunteers of the city with Dr. Kiran Seth at the helm.

The evening bore witness to incredible performances by Music Maestros: Padma Bhushan Dr. N. Rajam who played the violin and Dhrupad Chintan Upadhyay who presented an eloquent vocal recital on Raga Dhrupad. The second day of the Convention began on a pleasant note with a Yoga Session by Dr. Kiran Seth, primarily focusing on ‘Naad Yoga’ and ‘Hatha Yoga’ emphasizing on spiritual development through sound vibrations and an integration of ethical ideas, a well-balanced diet and also meditation.

There were also interactive and ingenious workshops by the Intensives namely renowned Hindustani Classical Vocalist Dhrupad Chintan Upadhyay, illustrious Classical Dancer Kalashree Ayswaria Wariar, eminent artist specializing in Pithora Paintings, Smt. Gangubai Amaliya, and a distinguished Warli painter Shri. Chandrakant Mahala, wherein the participants were familiarized with the intricacies involved in the process of making and in turn accentuating the beauty of all art forms. Subsequently, there were presentations exhibited by the trainees of these workshops.

The mega-event came to a closure with a stellar Mohiniyattam performance by eminent Classical Dancer Kala Shree Ayswaria Wariar, the Pledge and the vote of thanks to everyone who had contributed in making this event a success.
