Surat: In Surat, much of people have seen those fire cases in some schools, and because of this, the education department has given a strict notice to all the urban and rural schools that those fire extinguishers are are been strict in all the schools then these much notice and other fire cases by this much also some of private schools have didn’t take any strict action on these things. In a major crackdown, the Education Department has taken strict action against 68 private schools in both urban and rural parts of the Surat district for operating without obtaining any Fire NOC (No Objection Certificate).
Following an order from the District Education Officer (DEO), a surprise inspection was carried out by CRC-BRC coordinators. Upon inspection, these schools were found violating fire safety norms, and each of the 68 schools was fined Rs 10,000. The DEO instructed the education inspectors to submit their reports quickly.
Based on these reports, it was revealed that 26 schools in areas like Limbayat, Udhna, Puna, Varachha, Sarthana, and Adajan did not have the mandatory fire safety certificate. An additional 42 schools in rural regions were also operating without it. The department plans further action and has emphasized that schools cannot compromise on students’ safety.
The District Education Officer, Dr. Bhagveshbhai Parmar, stated that students’ safety is paramount and schools must comply with fire safety regulations. Those who fail to do so will face strict action against those schools. Primary education Officer Manju Raval also highlighted that operating without a Fire NOC poses serious risks to students, and action will continue against such violations. This initiative sends a strong message that non-compliance with fire safety standards will not be tolerated, and all educational institutions must prioritize students’ security above all else.
