Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has approved the construction of a new Suman High School situated in the Sachin area with a revised budget of Rs 11.21 Crore, aiming to provide free and quality education to students from economically weaker sections of society. The proposal was sanctioned by the Public Construction Committee, clearing the way for the project to begin soon. Initially, the estimated cost for the project was Rs 10 crore, but it has now been increased by Rs 1.21 crore to now the total amounts comes close to Rs 11.21 crore, the school has all the necessary modern infrastructure and facilities.
The SMC currently operates 23 Suman High Schools in the city, all of them offer free education up to class 12th, primarily to students from urban poor and lower-income families. They also get the benefit of studying up to class 12th free of cost. The new school in Sachin will be equipped with advanced amenities designed to provide a better educational environment and promote the holistic development of students. It will particularly benefit students living in rural and suburban areas around the Sachin who lack access to such educational resources.
Their vision is to inclusive and quality education by the municipal body and demonstrates its commitment towards social development. Once it is completed, the school will not only reduce the burden on existing institutions but also in helping to build a stronger foundation for the future of underprivileged children, those who can’t afford the educational resources. The municipal authorities have emphasized that education with the right infrastructure is essential for empowering youth and building a stronger community.
The Surat Municipal Corporation’s only aim is to provide poor students with a better future with better educational resources in Surat. They already have 23 Suman High Schools, which are run by the municipal bodies and further on the SMC will offer modern facilities to enhance the learning of the students and focus on quality education and all-around development of students. Construction of the Suman High School will start soon following final approvals. This is part of Surat Municipal Corporation’s inclusive education initiative.
