Ahmedabad: Suraj Soni, a 21-year-old Bachelor of Commerce student from Chaloda village in Dholka, Gujarat, has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing admission into the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong for the MBA program 2025-2027 batch. Suraj, who scored 82.5 percentile in CAT 2024, comes from a humble background; his mother works as a maid, and his father is a manual laborer. Suraj’s success is a story of grit, sacrifice, and unshakeable determination. By this success, Suraj’s news has spread on the internet widely, and by this, their parents will be proud of him by this news.

Suraj’s daily routine in this routine there is includes waking up at 5.45 AM to commute over 40 KM to Ahmedabad using public transport, and 4 KM to the bus stop. Suraj has traveled this much in his daily routine, and then a long journey to reach college. He would return late in the evening, study into the night, and repeat this daily in his routine. Despite financial struggles and the burden of being from a Gujarati medium background, he shifted to English in B.Com. He worked hard on his communication skills and general awareness by reading newspapers and reference books.

His academic journey was filled with challenges; he could not afford expensive coaching but enrolled in IMS tutorials, paying in parts and making use of support from mentors and online resources. He did not attend elite schools and only went up to Class 2 before having to drop out temporarily. With a renewed focus on his studies, he resumed his studies in Class 7, eventually scoring 82% and 86% in Classes 10 and 12, respectively. In this situation, Suraj will add those habits by which he maintains their studies through his focus on his studies.

With a dream to uplift his family’s financial condition, Suraj has already made a plan to help others like him. He aspires to start his own business after completing his MBA and wants to enable others from underprivileged backgrounds who cannot afford education. His journey reflects the true spirit of resilience and transformation against all odds.

Suraj’s Class 10th and 12th scores are quite impressive, he wanted to study further, but his family’s financial conditions were not good, so his elder brother took a job paying Rs 12,000 a month to support his studies. For Commerce, Suraj has joined the HL College of Commerce. After seeing his financial condition, he wanted to start his own business but knew little about MBA programs until he spotted posters for an event celebrating MBA toppers in the city.
