Hazira – Surat, December 24, 2024: AMNS International School hosted its annual Sports Day for students of Classes V to XII, combining athletic excellence with a strong message to protect the planet under the theme “Environmental Sustainability.”
The Sports Day got underway with an impressive March Past led by NCC cadets, State Players and the school’s four houses, viz, Emerald, Ruby, Topaz and Sapphire. Students carried placards with messages like Rhythms to Save Rivers, Restoring Land, Reviving Life, Protectors: Guardians of the Earth, and Clean Air: Energise and Revitalise, showcasing their commitment to the environment.
Addressing the gathering, Surat Commissioner of Police and Chief Guest, Anupam Singh Gahlaut, urged students and parents to follow traffic rules for their own safety and also highlighted the importance of cyber awareness in today’s increasingly digital world.
In her welcome speech, AMNS International School Principal Sunita Matoo reinforced the day’s theme with the Sanskrit phrase, Pṛithvyāṁ Trāṇaṁ Sarveṣāṁ Dharmaḥ (Protecting the Earth is the duty of all).
The event featured a range of performances showcasing the importance of the environment. While Yoga-Nattyam highlighted river conservation, the Ring Drills, Stick exercises and Bamboo routines underscored environmental protection, strength and resilience. Synchronised aerobics performances emphasised the value of clean air.
Students showcased their athletic talent in various track and field events during the day, even as a host of fun activities added to the festive atmosphere.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and environmental slogans such as “Rivers are life, let them thrive, end pollution, keep them alive” and “Plant a tree, set life free, Green the Earth, for you and me.”
