The event attracted over 525 delegates from 30+ schools, 10+ universities, and 8 diverse educational systems.
The three-day conference, themed “Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future,” kicked off with an inspiring opening ceremony featuring Shri Manoj Kumar Sharma, IPS, whose life inspired the popular Bollywood film “12 Fail,” is a beacon of hope and perseverance for the younger generation. His keynote address highlighted the vital role of youth in global governance and sustainable development, setting the tone for the conference.
Throughout the event, delegates actively engaged in rigorous debates across 12 committees, demonstrating their diplomatic skills and problem-solving abilities. On the second day, they delved into discussions on critical global issues, including those in the Lok Sabha and Security Council. Through these activities, students developed creative skills, research abilities, debating expertise, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of world peace.
On the third day, the event featured the Academic Leaders’ Meet, attended by over 30 principals, university professors, and educational leaders. The meet was led by Mr. Anand Kumar, the founder of ‘Super 30’ and the inspiration behind the film ‘Super 30.’ For over two decades, Mr. Kumar has been coaching students for the IIT-JEE exams, providing free education to underprivileged students. We were also fortunate to have Mr. Ajay Bahadur Singh with us, the head of the Akash Byju’s North Eastern region. Mr. Singh is the founder of the Zindagi Foundation, where he prepared underprivileged children for the NEET exams free of charge.
In recognition of outstanding performances, cash prizes worth Rs. 100,000 were awarded to top delegates. Committee wise trophies for Best Delegation and High Commendation were given. G. D. Goenka International School, Surat won the special Rolling Trophy for best delegation on Merit, acknowledging its collective effort and participation. Additionally, all the teacher in-charges from participating schools were felicitated for their guidance and support.
Director Principal Mrs. Jayshree Choraria expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all participants, guests, and organizers for making GDGISMUN 5.0 a memorable and enriching experience. In his closing address, Chief Guest Mr. Anand Kumar encouraged the young delegates to continue their pursuit of knowledge and leadership, emphasizing the importance of dedication to education and global awareness.
GDGISMUN 5.0 not only provided a platform for academic growth but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and international understanding among students. The event concluded with a strong sense of achievement and anticipation for future editions.
