Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] October 18: In a landmark move to support the welfare of journalists, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel on Wednesday unveiled the Gujarat Media Club Welfare Fund, worth ₹1 crore. The announcement was made at a special event organized by the Gujarat Media Club, aimed at providing financial assistance to journalists and their families during times of need, particularly in cases of critical medical emergencies.

While presenting the Letter of Investiture, Shri Bhupendra Patel praised the initiative, emphasizing the fund’s sustainability. “The interest generated from this ₹1 crore corpus will ensure ongoing support for the welfare needs of our journalists in the years to come,” the Chief Minister remarked, highlighting the long-term impact of the fund.

Nirnay Kapoor, President of the Gujarat Media Club, echoed the sentiment, calling the creation of the fund “long overdue” and vital for addressing urgent medical emergencies faced by journalists or their families. “This fund will be an immediate source of help for journalists in need,” he stated in a press release issued by the Club.

The event was attended by prominent members of Gujarat’s media fraternity, including Senior Vice-President Dixit Soni and other key representatives of the Gujarat Media Club.

This welfare initiative marks a significant step in ensuring the well-being of journalists across the state, reinforcing the Gujarat Media Club’s commitment to supporting the media community.
