Surat, September 9: Surat, Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), organized the “Satsamvad” seminar on 08-09-2024, in which CS B. Narsiman, President, The ICSI, CS Dhananjay Shukla, Vice-President The ICSI, CS Mehul Rajput, Chairman, WIRC of The ICSI and CS Bhavesh Rawal, Treasurer of WIRC of The ICSI (ex-office Surat Chapter) were present and delivered an invocation on the occasion. During the program important announcements were made by the institute to advance the profession of students and members. Key details of the program are as follows:
- Introduction of SIP: A three-day Student Induction Program (SIP) will now be implemented in place of the earlier One Day Orientation Program (ODOP).
- Ease of Reporting: A proposal to SEBI has been made by the Institute to facilitate CS professionals working in listed companies to comply with NSE and BSE through a single portal, which is under consideration by SEBI.
- Virtual meetings will continue: Virtual meetings will continue for transparency and effortless communication among the company’s directors and transactions.
- Focus on ESG: Emphasizes the role of Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) in promoting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) norms in corporate practices.
- MOU with NISM: ICSI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), which will provide more benefits and opportunities to the students in terms of training and education.
- Expanded scope of CS: The scope and growth of the company secretary profession is increasing, creating more opportunities in various fields.
- CS target for 2047: To meet the demands of the corporate world, the organization has set a target of 1.40 lakh company secretaries by 2047.
- Growth in Student Enrollment: Over 30,000 students have registered for oral tuition levels to study Company Secretary, indicating growing interest and participation in the CS profession.
CS Manish Patel-Chairman, CS Mihir Sojitra -Secretary, and CS Nihar Dhakan -Treasurer, were present on behalf of the committee and invited everyone, and the program was managed by CS Prashant Kathiria. More than 125 students and CS members participated in this seminar.
