Surat: Some news is coming for those students who have taken a gap year, and the news is that the registration process for JEE Advanced 2025 has started, but many eligible students across the country, including Gujarat, are facing difficulties in applying. Specifically, students who have taken a gap year between Class 10th and 12th and completed their Class 12th exams in 2024 are unable to log in, as their access has been blocked by IIT Kanpur.
According to the JEE Advanced Information Brochure, only those students who passed their Class 12th exams in 2024 or will pass in 2025 are allowed to register. However, a technical issue has led to problems for students who completed their Class 10th exams in 2021 and Class 12th exams in 2024 after taking a one-year gap. The system is recognizing 2023 as the eligible year for these students, not 2024. As per the rules, a student can attempt JEE Advanced only twice: once in the year of passing Class 12th and once the following year.
Students who passed Class 10th in 2021 and Class 12th in 2024 are being incorrectly categorized under the 2023 batch, making them ineligible for registration. Additionally, students who registered for JEE in Class 11th but didn’t take the exam are also being denied. In earlier years, students were allowed two attempts after Class 12th, but now, because of system updatesmanyny gap-year students are unable to proceed.
The IIT authorities clarified that only those students who passed Class 12th within the last two years are eligible, but the technical definition of eligible years has created major confusion and difficulties for genuine aspirants. So many of the students have faced some problems while registering.
