    Intel India, GTU organise Faculty Development Programme on AI for Manufacturing

    Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], January 20: Intel India and Gujarat Technological University (GTU) organised a Faculty Development Programme on Friday to advance Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities in the manufacturing sector. The event aimed to empower educators with the skills and tools needed to integrate AI into their teaching and research, ultimately shaping the future of manufacturing in India.

    Supported by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), the event marks a pivotal step in fostering industry-academia collaboration through the Intel AI for Manufacturing Certificate Course. Designed to solve real-world manufacturing challenges, the programme seeks to enhance the technological readiness of faculty and students alike, positioning them as catalysts for innovation.

    The day-long event featured interactive sessions and workshops, including the use of AI tools such as Orange Data Mining for demand forecasting and Teachable Machine for anomaly detection, facilitated by Intel AI coaches. The programme also explored integrating the certificate course into GTU’s Summer Internship Programme, enabling students to earn academic credits while developing practical skills. The event also provided orientation on the role of faculties for onboarding students for the certificate course.

    Dr Rajul Gajjar Vice chancellor of GTU said,

By equipping educators with cutting-edge AI knowledge, we are paving the way for transformative solutions in manufacturing and cultivating a culture of innovation. This event is also an attempt to bridge the gap between academia and industry.”

    Dr. Rajul K Gajjar, GTU Vice Chancellor, Dr Mihir Shah, Advisor, GTU Venture, Ms Saloni Singhal, Senior Programme Manager at Intel Digital Readiness – Asia Pacific and Japan, and Sandeep Engineer, GCCI President and CMD of Astral Limited, Mr. Sunil Gangwani Advisor GTU SKILLS, were among the dignitaries who spoke at the event.

    The programme concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where faculty members were awarded joint certifications by GTU and Intel India, symbolising their readiness to mentor the students who will work on the challenges of manufacturing landscape with emerging technologies such as AI.

    Intel Digital Readiness is a large-scale public-private partnership programme rolled out with government, academia and industry. The initiative aims to empower non-technical audiences with the appropriate skill sets, mindsets, toolsets and opportunities to use technology impactfully and responsibly in the AI-fuelled world
