Ahmedabad: In 2003, when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he launched a ‘Swagat Online’ program to enhance governance and make it more accessible to the common people. This innovative platform allowed citizens to directly raise their grievances to the Chief Minister and district officials through an online system, promoting transparency and accountability. Over the past 22 years, Swagat Online has successfully handled and resolved numerous public issues. The Chief Minister’s main purpose in launching this platform for the those people who have some problems in their area and other problems that need to be solved. Then this was launched for them so they can file their problem on this online platform.
On Thursday, the current Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, addressed 15 applicants and reviewed 33 grievances during the ‘Swagat Online’ session. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of solving people’s problems promptly and maintaining the public’s trust in governance. Their main aim is to solve all the problems of the people that they are facing in their area and at their time.
Since its inception, ‘Swagat Online’ has addressed approximately 3,70,000 applications, with a resolution rate of 98.7%. In 2023 alone, over 4,200 applications were registered, showing the continued relevance and effectiveness of the platform. The system operates from the state level down to district and taluka levels, creating an integrated mechanism for grievance redressal. Around 180 issues have been escalated to the Chief Minister’s Level, ensuring that even complex matters receive proper attention.
‘Swagat Online’ remains a pioneering initiative in citizen-government interaction, continuing to evolve with technological advancements to serve the people better. From the start of this online platform, over the years, around 3.70 lakh applications have been handled through the system, and just provide a better service to the people by the Chief Minister in their state and taluka level district and by this they have achieved and completed 22 years of launch this online platform ‘Swagat Online’.
