Hyderabad (Telangana) [India] September 24: In a powerful show of community engagement and environmental responsibility, Narayana School Kukatpally participated in the Ozone Run 2024, where students and management signed a petition advocating for improved road hygiene and cleanliness in Hyderabad. This initiative demonstrates the school’s commitment to creating a healthier environment for both students and local residents.

    Addressing Critical Hygiene Issues

Held on September 15 at Gachibowli Stadium, the Ozone Run 2024 brought together over 1,000 participants, uniting families, educators, and community leaders for a shared purpose: environmental sustainability. As part of this initiative, 471 students from Narayana School Kukatpally collaborated with other schools to identify key sanitation issues affecting their localities. The petition highlights pressing concerns, including the dumping of both dry and wet waste, trash accumulation leading to mosquito breeding, and the proliferation of rats and dogs due to unsystematic waste disposal. Principal R. Shobha stated, “Our students are eager to contribute to a cleaner Hyderabad, and we believe that addressing these issues is essential for the health and safety of our community.”

A Celebration of Unity and Action

The Ozone Run 2024 was more than just a race; it was a celebration of unity and commitment to environmental action. Distinguished guests, including Shri Jagadeeswar Goud, MLA Contestant from Serilingampally, and Mr. Gareth Wynn Owen, British Deputy High Commissioner, attended the event to lend their support to this important cause. The founders of the Ozone Run, MsBilvoa Vunnam and Ms.Teerdha Vunnam, were instrumental in organizing the event, showcasing how collective efforts can inspire significant change in promoting public hygiene and environmental awareness.

    Community Support and Engagement

The success of the Ozone Run was further enhanced by the generous support of local sponsors, including Am Green – Greenko Group, Oasis School, 7 Seas Entertainment, and Dhanu Construction. Their contributions ensured that the event was impactful and enjoyable for participants, providing them with t-shirts, finishers’ medals, and hydration stations along the route. The day was filled with excitement and camaraderie, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in addressing environmental challenges and advocating for sustainable practices.

    A Call for Collaboration

The petition submitted by Narayana School Kukatpally emphasizes the need for continued collaboration with the GHMC to tackle the highlighted sanitation issues effectively. Enclosed with the petition is a presentation outlining specific concerns and potential solutions. Principal R. Shobha expressed hope for a constructive dialogue with the GHMC, stating, “We are committed to working hand-in-hand with local authorities to foster a cleaner, more hygienic Hyderabad for future generations.”
