Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court has made an important observation regarding caste-based reservations in education and government jobs. The court ruled that an individual belonging to one caste cannot repeatedly claim reservation benefits across different caste categories. This applies specifically when individuals try to obtain benefits under both the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) or SEBC categories over time. This ruling is now in effect in Bangalore, and this news has spread widely in Karnataka.

The ruling comes in a case where an individual tried to claim a reservation under the OBC category after previously availing of SC benefits in education. The court emphasized that such practices are unacceptable and violate the spirit of India’s affirmative action system, which is designed to help socially and economically disadvantaged communities. The Karnataka High Court has no repeated Quota Benefits under multiple caste identities. The Same Individual cannot claim SC and OBC benefits separately.

The Karnataka High Court referred to the Supreme Court guidelines and concluded that the same person cannot use different caste identities to gain repeated advantages in educational admissions or job recruitment. The decision underscores the importance of maintaining fairness and integrity in the reservation system. The court has directed that reservation benefits must not be granted to those attempting to misuse the system by switching caste identities over time. It also noted that such attempts reflect a misuse of constitutional provisions meant to promote social justice.

The High Court has no switching between SC and OBC to avail reservation. Quota Misuse under security, and the Karnataka HC issues a strong warning. They have blocks dual identity quota benefit in the key ruling. And the reservation is not for reuse under different castes. Rules Karnataka HC changing caste categories for reservation is an abuse of the system.
