Surat: RTE Admissions surge in Surat, and in this admission surge, almost 16,000 Children secure their seats in the first round. As part of the Right to Education (RTE) initiative for the academic year 2025-26, Surat city and district have seen a substantial first-round allotment of school admissions. A total of 16,142 students and almost 13,285 from urban Surat and almost 2,814 from rural areas, have secured admissions under the RTE’s first round that was organized by them. This marks a significant increase compared to last year, where 5.088 urban and 1,701 rural students received admission in the first round, totaling 6,789.
The student’s parent, whose children have been allotted a seat, is required to visit the assigned schools by 8 May 2025 to complete the admission process. Surat’s education department confirmed that this round includes 5,211 students under Form A and 5,211 students under Form B, totaling 10,422 applications that were processed. The city received 13,278 confirmed allotments out of 26,105 applications submitted from 888 schools.
Meanwhile, across Gujarat, the first round of RTE admissions has successfully placed 86,204 students, with 32,967 still on the waiting list. The total number of RTE seats available for this year statewide is 1,18,546, while 1.38,241 applications were received.
The entire admission process has been closely coordinated by local administrative bodies and educational officers to ensure transparency and fairness. The surge in applications and admissions reflects a growing demand for educational rights among economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups. Right to Education’s (RTE) is properly aiming on the those students how can’t afford the study materials and the cost for the studying and by this they are providing this much good facilities for those weaker sections students by which the dream to study can be done smoothly for the students and their parents and can get a help from the RTE.
